Jennifer Vogt

Jennifer is a landscape and still life painter who works predominantly in oils, ink and pastel. As a teenager in the 1980’s, she went to museums on weekends and spent several hours transfixed in front of Bastien-Lepage’s Joan of Arc at the MET. Diverted by life’s demands, Jennifer didn’t begin to learn to really draw and paint until the end of 2021, after moving to Italy, at age 50, after a thirty year career in Entertainment and High Tech. “The most exciting thing about painting is how deep the well is, from technical knowledge, to understanding the masters, to building a visual library and to mark making; there seems to be no end to learning. I am in a constant state of exploration.” Corot, Ingres, Degas, David, Daubigny, Innes and ancient roman frescoes are constant sources of inspiration. Jennifer is thrilled to be a Hudson River Fellow and looking forward to seeing where 2026 will take her. “The more I paint, the more things evolve as I inch closer to seeing and understanding the air and light around us,” she says. Jennifer has been in two group shows: one in New York City and the other in Tuscany, Italy. Jennifer’s work is in private collections in the throughout the US and Europe.
